I'm in fifth grade incoming 6th grade parents to did PV is informational night we thank you for being on time we thank you for registering then we have a great evening and lots of information available for you this evening and a wonderful cast of of PBIS characters and people as well learn a little bit more about what is in store for you in the following year and what year we've had this year so I'd like to just think all parents as I do at every opportunity in a public forum for the tremendous effort teamwork best shown in this pandemic year the teachers and staff as well tremendous effort and we have collaborated and come weather is it seem like no year ever so without further adieu I would like to begin please know in terms of some housekeeping items function has been disabled but the Q&A has been enabled so feel free to post your questions in the Q&A function of this webinar and we will answer them as they're coming up and we will also take some life questions okay so once again welcome to Palos Verdes Intermediate School parent night for next year and perhaps perhaps strive for Progress not perfection I would like to begin first Buy in who sing mr. Pat Corwin administrator of our summer school program mr. Corwin is actually a mentor of mine and we go way back he was the very first person to give me an opportunity and hire me as a school Cal many many years ago I'm so it is my great pleasure to introduce mr. Corwin here to talk to you all about our summer school options for your incoming 6th grade students thank you mr. Farrell in Boise a good choice in hiring you you've done a super job and you're running a grade school so it's a pleasure to be here this evening having served as a principal for many years this was probably my favorite night of all nights welcoming incoming parents of sixth grade students because this is a big exciting time for you and I think that you're in great hands if I would want to hear one message tonight it would be that you can rest assured that your students are going to be in the best of hands with the counselor the assistant principal the principal and the teachers are above and beyond so I wish you the best of luck I'm here this tonight this evening specifically to talk with you about our summer school opportunity the program has been running for over 30 years now and each year we typically offer opportunities for students to attend summer school on their own specific campus Because of covid-19 unlimited this year we're at offering summer school it will be on the Ridge Crest campus because it is centrally located but we've got some of the best all stars from your school from mrs. Mrs. Palmer with the adjuster program we've got mr. hey mrs. Mrs. Lawson this is way too great a line up with people the program is intended to be an opportunity for incoming 6th graders to get a preview Coming Attractions by attending school on an intermediate school campus it's for 19 days there got some have some wonderful programs you should have received a flyer from your Elementary principal at the school that you're currently at things to note our website address is PVP ss.com it's on the flyer that Saint are the slide that you're looking at right now down in the bottom right-hand corner if you have any questions go to that website or classes are filling fast so I encourage you to get on the website tomorrow morning if not tonight and take a look at the schedule and look and see what would fit best for your son or daughter again the program is intended to give them an opportunity to feel the campus to even though it's not PBIS campus it's very similar in nature with the setup of PB is the program is free taste the tuition goes for paying the cost of teachers overhead rentals and things of that nature that nature and all excess Revenue that is generated from the tuition is put back into a check written to pvpusd School District from the Ed Foundation this is all falling under the auspices of the entire nations don't I just I'm going to stop here cuz I know you have a full evening but I just want to welcome you all wish you the best of luck please consider summer school as an option for your son or daughter this summer thanks with control great opportunity for summer school for kids to especially in light of our I'm in the lack of social opportunities kids have had at the very minimum to give some not even if it's not on our campus that gives kids an opportunity to be around other kids and other Pier so great opportunity thanks again mr. Corwin now perhaps the star of the show without a doubt I should say undoubtedly the start of the show I'm going to turn over to our three pvis students in a moment but I was just explain to all of you my Impressions my reminder standing up of middle school because I think it is very much a transition year is a Transit scuse me to transition time for students and every year from 6th 7th and then finally to eight students are given just a little bit more responsibility they earn a little bit more Independence because of showing their responsibilities and job as I see it is to prepare kids for high school so that they understand how to be successful in high school and being successful in high school doesn't always it doesn't just mean academically because certainly that will come it's a wonderful day we have wonderful teachers and Anna fantastic community that is supportive overacting micrograms but it's also about the social emotional growth of our kids and that happens in middle school and its really important part. I really empathize to our families and our kids that we weren't together communication is everything please communicate with with myself the counselors teachers that is that is so important that we work together and through communication it is without a doubt something that I think we have we have learned or certainly magnify this year during the pandemic how truly important communication is the we are all invested in our kids and we want to help them mature and grow over the next three years and be ready for high school so once again with further adieu would like to turn it over to our our students and they can really give you the best advice and the best experience about their time here at PBI is what states if you miss your girl my name is Isabel Jewell and I'm currently SD president as Mister Pharrell mentioned it's really important to ask for help or need anything to help you akademiks wise I'll always have had great experiences with my teachers definitely pay attention in class and take good notes it'll help you along the way, speaking trailer I can personally speak about Spanish which I really enjoyed but I do know that we have a really great music program along with art institute and there are a couple other wanted to I kind I encourage you all to get involved around campus if something interests you try it leadership in ASB are both great options we are definitely looking for 6th graders to join next year maybe I'll see you another great Cloud that I have taken part in all three years is friendship club and once again 6th graders we would love to have you join so I will now hand it over to Cape Fear Kashima and I wish you all the best hi my name is Katie Shima and I am the vice-president of pif thank you for having me tonight and there is no question that my experience has been very fulfilling Helen coming in as a sixth grader I wanted to become more involved and to meet new friends and to promote school spirit leadership in 6th grade and I fix representative for my class I also join the Friendship Club Surfrider Club in Cotillion I have also played as mr. hey doing softball and 6th grade and I have been apart of leadership I have had many great cjcfpd is so supportive and helpful the classes have been challenging but I've always thought that is important to charge myself I could eat you I saw that play paraffin acts like Isabella we have we have great real like the real where that involves art and band I highly suggest that you should join me to ship cuz they're always looking for new thank you so much hi I'm Ella Gardner I'm pretty free DirecTV is and I'm the spirit chair for ASD so Isabel and Kate really summed up antique Rhett and Link Jack and I did a little bit of Surf Rider club which was basically like a club or weak air from the ocean and like kind of look more into that kind of stuff so well I was here I got to do you like Simone does amazing find class and also projects with the school which is really fun signs for all the fun events in fun reviews and that was a really fun cuz I got to meet a lot of new people which is always a benefit of joining all these clubs and it's always a great idea to make friends and the middle school and so I also want to enforce that all the teachers here are amazing and I don't think I've ever liked in elementary school or why don't remember preschool what teachers if you are amazing and likes back here and so that's basically it oh my gosh you guys are awesome and I'm just so impressed and another reason number 6000 million 899,000 why I love my job seeing you guys take out a presentation like this and I'm speaking the heart in about your experiences truly impressive and I thank you for your time guys and this is a great example of the progression of kids when they answer PBIS S6 reduce and then finally as I get ready to leave us and head out to high school it really is a very important perhaps the most important time as as students are maturing and getting for high school and then onto to college that the middle school years will happen in a Flash and we take it very seriously and and do our best to make sure to support the whole child to once again thank you all leadership is awesome and I'll talk a little bit more about that in further sites so next text we have PTSA and I would like to welcome our current PTSA president text Tiffany Talent hi like to extend my own welcome to everyone to PBIS I have a sixth grader in 8th grader at PBIS and my 6th grader is my third child through PIR sensor we are so fortunate to have mr. Farrell in the teachers and staff at PBIS just couldn't be luckier so mainly want to highlight the differences kind of between PTSD TA in elementary school and intermediate school you're probably most of you familiar with PTA in the elementary school so what is the main differences is that we include students so when you register at do your pdas registration in August along with your Aries registration you can purchase a membership for your student as well and they can be involved with parents and teachers and be part of that you can see on the screen some of the things that we help fund we do a no-fuss fundraiser at the beginning of the year and registration so that's another big difference from a mystery school so we can bleach help with capital Improvement field trips and and all kinds of things around school so so happy to have you guys joining us that PBIS I don't think my email address is on there but it is on the school website so please reach out if you have any questions at a PTSA can help you with Benjamin Stanley I'd like to introduce now Miss Amy roach are booster club president Hi everyone and welcome to the Sea King family we are really excited to welcome your students on campus next fall in terms of the booster club it might be a New Concept too many of you coming in from elementary school is with the booster club and the PTA are separate groups we both work to provide our I didn't with the part and everything that they need the booster club funds just different opportunities and what we find our Athletics academic activities and arts and so is Isabella and Kaden and Ella had had talked about with the leadership Club that's also went that's one of the clubs that is part of the booster club we have the Friendship club we have this year we have the dance club we have Chef club and how do you spell clubs are meant to help your child to simulate into the school so we want to provide something for everyone we provide lunch time and supervision and essentially just like lunch activities for the kids when they're out there at lunch and also with yes Lenox we have three seasons we have fall fall winter and spring and we have slide football and soccer and basketball and softball and volleyball and do another thing that you can get involved in we encourage all the student to go out there and really find something that that will cost them and we also support the academics with National Junior Honor Society and the garden lessons and we support our award-winning music department and drama department so how we can do all this is through booster club you'll see that at registration I'm so we encourage you to join the booster club and we will have a orientation for all the clubs that are available to your students that will really help them get on board and feel like they're part of the taking family so welcome I'd like to I'd like to thank you both personally and publicly here for working together the booster club in the PTSA are obviously two separate entities but they have worked tremendously hard to work together and collaborate at every opportunity and it doesn't work as well if the leaders of both of these programs are not great people and always have the kids at at there at heart and put the kids first I'm so without them I am not sure how they certainly have set the stage for the relationship and and it just it is awesome and and our kids benefit every aspect from extracurriculars to facilities to everything that that is outside of academics and even within academics look at programs like stem so I thank you both very much Ciara has again has been a tremendous challenge for many of us and you've been right right there alongside of me on anything we need to do so I thank you both very much and I look forward to next year now this is my slime so this is Cotillion although I'm not in charge of Cotillion you wouldn't want me out there dancing I promise you that and I'm going to do I speak on behalf of a Mist on Murdock who is there that could chilling in program lead they have every intention of have Cotillion start next year, they are working closely with the county and and Public Health requirements and so there will be more information forthcoming and online application will go live June 1st as one of the bullets indicate and if you missed remind you again but if you miss any portion of this presentation I'll post it online on our school website at the conclusion MSN plug for our school website and has tons of information please always remember that you missed something in an email or you heard about something from a parent that the website there's a good chance that our website has that information so Cotillion information will be listed there when the applications go live June 1st they have every intention of bringing the program back next year and I I look forward to it I sent my own kids through it. It through it and it certainly is a it is a wonderful program in a very much a rite of passage in our school district once again my name is Michael Farrell and the principal at Palos Verdes Intermediate School I'm entering my 16th year in Ardis unified I introduce my mentor in my my first boss mr. Corwin at the beginning he hired me as a counselor straight out of school my very first job as a counselor I was a school counselor at Ridgecrest for 6 years I then spent a year at Rancho Del Mar has 15 and then I spent the next six years as an associate principal at Peninsula High School Square oversaw both programs all programs their Athletics and facilities and counseling and academics I then transitioned to the principal of Rancho Del Mar where I spent two years and I am now entering in my third year as per PBIS and I feel like I should get credit for a few extra years being a pandemic here it seems like one long continuous year so I know you're there philosophy very simple every student every day that is my Mantra that is something I live by and it's so simple and it great reminder for me when we get bogged down with many MB things that always two kids kind of boring stuff the adult stuff and the stuff that makes things complicated and confusing I remember every student every day a little bit about me personally I have three daughters as I mentioned I have all of my girls go to PVP unified and my oldest is at peninsula high school and I have two younger daughters that are in Middle School Lake Stevens Elementary School 1 heading into middle school next year that is very much on my mind and very much on her mind so I might share this presentation with her later if everyone could come back on the panel that be great my lovely wife talk about a team there's no I kid I cannot do what I do without her everyday so thank you to Jennifer my wife wherever you're at and motivation that's easy I'm there it is so I would like to introduce to you Miss Jennifer Egan minute many of you may know her and Miss Egan this is her first year so I quite a year to be introduced as an administrator so thanks do I get some extra credit years as well for this year he I am Jennifer Egan and this is my 19th year in the district and I spent the first eighteen of them at call Springs High School so I might have taught some of them while this is my first year as an administrator of those last 18 years. I definitely built up some administrative experience I would say I'm through. Only teaching and being Department lead but also with the AVID program and being a senior Capstone senior project coordinator and also mentoring teachers to the betsa program I think with that too is really all that experience Built My educational philosophy which is that all students deserve are deserving of an education that Embraces their uniqueness you know their uniqueness their gifts challenges all of that and end so that we can build that to help them exceed their potential I also have three children one in high school when in middle school and when an elementary school so I all of the components right now in this in this crazy world and I was thinking and reflecting about tonight I was thinking about when my oldest was starting middle school and going to a presentation much like although in a gym and thinking only I really cared about at the end of that night was feeling like the team had my daughter that they were going to take care of her and I hope that you feel that way at the end of this night this is a team that cares about your it's going to look after your kids and is going to help them hopefully be their best selves I also have an amazing husband who I've married to for 19 years and works in the district and swell we are we are definitely invested in this community and we can see the things to keep me motivated and I was definitely eating some peanut M&Ms today through stressful meeting so I look forward to seeing all of you on campus and we had a few fifth-graders stopped by last week to send that to say hello and have any kids are watching please if you come on the campus in the next couple of weeks please say hello to us we are so excited to welcome you the school so thank you message and Courier indeed and I am very grateful and a happy to have you as my mighty may my right hand all the intermediate so beautifully stated at parents and trusting us your most prized possession of a very serious I so thank you for that and I also added the peanut M&Ms to her motivation even though she didn't put it on there so full disclosure so next slide three or four slides are just a inch send a picture to the to the excuse me a picture to the name of some very important people that you will get to know over the next three years that statement is our office manager and pretty much the catch all so great place start is with Misty Trend and the first person you'll see when you when you enter the main office Miss neighbor attendance all things attendance parents take a picture of this slide put the phone number in your phone's remember her email address I promise you will need it she's got some great tips here I should she is wonderful at her job definitely overqualified and a tremendous asset to our team here in the office so anything attendance independent study they all go through Miss neighbor and she's wonderful so please remember anything attendance she is the first place you want to stay okay I Miss hertzman Registrar so anything records wise she also has the owner of our sales of PE clothes Lockard excuse me locks for your Paris if we have them next year hoping we will thinking we will she is the person she also holds the wallet here for the wallet for PBIS and so anything that has to do with a payment she would be the person to see so miss hertzman is our registrar and then finally that name would be very difficult to to ride. sometimes pronounce so we call her rally affectionately call her rally she is our wonderful school nurse and talk about a person that has been everything to US during this covid-19. greatway Manor in working with parents and students alike and just just a great person so our school nurse if your your son and your daughter your student has any medication that they'll need next year she would be the person to contact okay and are dynamic duo are school counselors and of course have a special place in my heart as a former school counselor it gives me great pleasure to introduce our lovely school counselors and I will begin with Miss Janine McKenna thank you so much mr. Farrell I do feel really lucky to have landed on the PV Intermediate School team I grew up in this district and attended Public Schools all throughout and then. For many years in this District before coming to PBI ask Todd in the fall of 2019 I'm going to speak you briefly on PB I asked not to be confused with p v i s I used to get very confused in the beginning so p b i a stands for positive behavior intervention and supports and it's a research-based and school-wide systems approach and you'll be learning more about it hopefully through your students PBIS student Behavior proactively with a rat Behavior being taught and reinforced at school and so we believe that when students are behaving well and when school is a positive place to be with a healthy climate that students are able to be their best selves they're able to to learn and and really Excel and Thrive and that's what we want so your your student will learn from us it means to be his or her TV is best their best at PV Intermediate School and so fast is an acronym that we use be safe encourage kindness show integrity and take action a lot of acronyms I know there will be a test at the end of this I hope you're taking notes so the PBIS team consists of pvis Administrators staff who meet monthly to review data and to discuss ways to put PBIS into action on campus also something that was newly formed during during this online school time has been the spark the spark plug spark students practicing attitudes of respect and kindness and and the spark club is a mention of PBIS and is comprised of students who meet every two weeks to discuss ways to put that into practice and action in the classroom in at school as well and so one of the ways that we've done that this year is by having teachers recognize students who sparked in the classroom and consistently demonstrate kindness and character to their classmates and staff so PBIS positive behavior intervention and is most effective when school and families work together to teach and reinforce desired behaviors and so we thank you so much for helping us teach your children to be there TV is best thank you Miss McKenna mr. Sam unmute got to make sure I am you got a year-and-a-half of Zoom calls and I still forgot to unmute hey good evening my name is Mariano Sanz and I in this group I did not grow up in PB I did not attend tvschools I'm originally from spinning I booked here 30 plus years ago and I have being a TV is one of the counselors at PBI has for the last 20 years so I have made a career of TV and I love it here so it's one of those Perfect Situation I do have three children also so that find me to work with this team and we can go to the next line I think the next few slides are going to be mine and you are going to have to put up with me for a few minutes I did want to talk to you all about a little bit about what is going to be happening with your children first I want to be talking about the emotional that this transition years this is going to be quite a jump for your students this is definitely text message Shannon years that's an understatement throw up your children in Middle School one of the biggest characteristics that they have is that the changes that they go through physical social emotional behavioral academic cognitive this is for most of them when the hormones are going to hit him the hardest and it's going to be a surprise surprise we do have some good news and bad news the bad news is our very long tunnel we can give you right now is that this is not Sprint it's a marathon so welcome to middle school because it's such an important transition year I always tell parents dad next of kin this is the biggest change that they're going to go in their academic lives okay then middle school and then College special needs they're going state are out of home but not at school this is going to be a big change for them because they are going any regular year they're going from one classroom set up virtual teacher a campus of 3 to 500 students to a campus that is in the 900 800-900 profit way they're going from a classroom. do something more or less entire day or that it changes are very well-managed time is flexible the teacher needs an extra 10 minutes to finish the math lesson they just take 10 minutes and a shark and something else the teachers the owner of this schedule Middle School bell ring kids get off everybody walks out you have diabetes you have 5 minutes to get to the next class structure structured as a big surprise to log in and it's a huge adjustment new responsibilities in China and challenges this okay everyone listen this is not the year to experiment pause traumatic pause once again this is not the year to experiment please fifth grade grade year tax permit games of the totem pole in elementary they have this is the year I know it's not a usual year but it's okay to trim it once they coming to 6 rain is going back to kindergarten and this is second time I mention kindergarten is back to kindergarten remember in kindergarten when they had that that big envelope that they brought from school once a week all the information well that is called the back that's where you are going to have to put on your glove and dig into that backpack to find out information that you really want to know that the teachers are trying to send home a lot of parents tell us saw that they were older I wanted to give a new responsibilities new moments to show maturity they already have enough as I said a moment ago with all through the school that there top of the totem pole pole to the bottom oldest anxieties are enough of a challenge that they don't need new responsibilities in the Hall of your responsibilities that you are going to give them okay what is talking today about is this sixth grader Goodman to get them a phone Maybe not maybe not they don't have one the moments of the very beginning okay this new responsibility and freedom can bring a lot of anxiety to them to navigate on top of the ones that they already have not a good time to experiment 7th grade eighth grade best time to experiment before they go into high school and they have to do this all over again I think I'm ready for my next life okay so how do I promote good transition for into Middle School okay helping with organization even though they're older and they should know by now they don't and we spend the next three years in middle school without mantra I know they should know by now but they don't so hopefully by the time they finish Middle School they will have their skills that they need to go to high school healthy organized structure in the home helping them keeping an eye on them on what they're doing monitoring their their classes their assignments this is not the time to say okay I'm going to trust you cuz you are going to complete all your homework and I'm going to check once every 3 weeks every 4 weeks no Stadium down first trimester crucial bring them on campus have to be familiar with Campus before school starts see where the 6th grade building is although a transition in general and in particular this one the transition is going to be their lives for the next 6 years 7 years it's going to be one transition after another after another so enjoy the opportunity to talk to him about that are we going to have lockers but it would be good for them to have a long and practice just in case but it takes about a day or two we going for the next slide you want me to do you want to do this way or should I do this one how about now well everyone except her mr. Sands can hear me academic program this is a the sixth grade year is pretty standard for students be only deviation really will become perhaps for some students in the math area and then a little bit in terms of the electives every year that a student progresses during Middle School they get a little bit more options as we go along with our theme of transitioning and progressing more responsibility more independent our programs match that so this is this is what I did a typical schedule will look like Garden City electives are to be determined in that like I said there is some variance in the math department but for the most part this is a standard schedule for kids okay along those lines I would introduce to you our music department extraordinaire drama Department everything's fine arts Miss oh hello my name is Missy Lachlan missile and I've been teaching music for 22 years in the last 17 of those years I've been in the district my first year here I thought an all-time elementary school's out at also appeared music at PBIS and then once keeping high school was completely reopen then I went to 80% at PJs and then 100% And it's been that way ever since and so I'm also the theatrical producer you can see by my t-shirt weather musical Aladdin jr. doing up bird Weber Summit on May 8th and you can see the capital of Agrabah behind me so you are elementary school principals will have information so that you can get yourself to streaming ticket we also have a confession that you order online and some high schoolers that need service hours will deliver them safely and a touchless lie to your house so stay tuned for all of that good stuff so I only have four points this evening and they all start with the PBIS music department is awesome because we will be able to offer band to 6th graders for the 2021-2022 school year in fact our current band students in 6th and 7th and 8th grade are going to be getting play beginning to play on the 26th of April we are all very excited about that I can't speak for the people in the 8th grade pod we're going to listen to us play but what you going to do we have to pay Arrangement because I am I I said we're awesome and we need to play number two and I think this really speaks to what are our administrative team says we're awesome because we are welcoming to anyone who wants to play an instrument we have a group that can fit any of the sea level so if you've never picked up an instrument then you can be in 6th grade band or being Orchestra which is 678 but we do a variety of music so that everybody can achieve when we have kids that don't even really know which way to hold their violin and we have kids that have playing at a high level since they were like four but we all managed to be together and we made it managed to make it work and make awesome music and thank you booster club for the musical and also they funded the music lunch Club so if things are get back to normal anybody is welcome to come hang out the music room at lunch time the music kids play instruments in the other kid we have games and Larry have board games and cards and all kinds of stuff so you can just call me after you eat your lunch and just come and hang out the music room because milk Anita and so we want to make sure the music department is a safe space for everyone to be in and hopefully you know if enough kids hang out at lunch we can recruit some more kids Spanish is fine and stem is awesome let music is the best and that goes on to my third point we are a family we really really are and I don't have any children of my own I made my life choices but I like I have like you know 130 kids and I get to send them back to you which is awesome and our family extends to both Peninsula and PV High School is one of my favorite things is Princeton's does a game it's a Pity upon game tomorrow I'm happy to go and see all of my former little ones all grown up and I don't know if the peninsula band is going to be there or not but it's really cool when they are there and I can just see all my little ones all grown up driving and taking music and like the color music department is 7 year program so you do three years of me and then you for years at Peninsula you do for years at PV and you know I know it's like to hear this and I'm really good friends with a V College in I'll coordinator over PV high school and she says and it's true that colleges are really impressed with students that have an activity that they've done safely and successfully for a lot of years so if you can write hey I took music from 4th grade all the way through 12th grade that's going to look good on your college resume not that I need to sweeten music because again it's awesome and my last point is we are awesome because we have a lot of fun when we're not in the midst of a pandemic our band and Orchestra travel art festival trip usually yield gold awards for whatever that's worth it if it's really fun we go to San Francisco we go to knots dairy farm so that we can eat at Portillo's I'm from Chicago if the best food ever if you don't know about Portillo's get yourself to Buena Park it's so delicious and the kids just love it we have a good time we play at a pretty high level otherwise I wouldn't bother calling myself to knots Farm because it seemed part no thank you but the kids really like it and it's some it's a motivator it's not like over a we're going to get a gold that's why we're doing this but obviously we use the rehearsal process better ourselves that we do we perform at a very high level when we're not in the middle of a pandemic and it will always just take trips far away we participate in the holiday parades one star pep band again thank you booster club Google group get back together we'll be able to hang out at the Peabody and the peninsula high school football games and hang around with their marching band you can see us and the peninsula holiday parade and there is the ever-popular Disney trip in the fall now parents if you do wind up having a music kid I'm thinking not this fall but probably fall of 2022 I will be hitting you up it is the most fun 16 hours you will ever spend with a bunch of Middle School I promise you will love it so stay tuned for that and a really really hope that your students will join us in the music department thank you mr. wonderful job I can't say enough about our music department of drama Department that's you that's your head up go to Aladdin go to Portillo's and unmute unmute are we going all right so I'm back I just I want to talk to you about the course selection I know that is the highlight of the night sorry Miss all but course selection for next year is open at the same and they're on our website and that the counseling menu there is at out there that says 21-22 scheduling and we have both a presentation and Indian School form to select search for next year okay are our face looks a little bit different from that right now cuz I was taking a couple of days ago in preparation for today but I'm glad to say that the 5th graders current year 5th graders that you seen that light at the bottom is now the very top and he has a welcome to 6th grade PowerPoint presentation and the course selection sheet that form that every should be completing the presentation to PowerPoint will walk you through the Forum will give you all the information hopefully that you need to complete the form and about the classes that you're going to hop in 6th grade are selectasis concern in some information about yes I'm gay so once you click on the form this is what the only one would look like alright the deadline to submit the form is April 26th 3 23rd scuse me April 23rd is the deadline for this phone starting today you will have a whole week into it with two weekends in the middle to make choices about this election go to the next page for me nutrition I'm going to just go very quickly over this basically we have two groups of electors we have the music program awesome it's all she's going to have you can either to span or any wind percussion when instrumental percussion instruments or you're going to choose Orchestra for any strings instruments then we have the wheels and we don't want to be confusing we have 3D will all the wheels have one thing in common first trimester all 6th grade students in the wheel will have a success skills class first trimester stained glass for Oliver we even have a mini version of it for the music students so they have their not left behind with this success skills that we're trying to build in this class is the sign the cabin bees familiarize with our school procedures with the campus itself all the navigation that needs to happen digitally when it talks about school email website digital libraries with a whole bunch of information that they need to go it also teach this typing skills they read a book that goes along with the school year so it's a very comprehend 12 weeks into skilled but they're going to need to be successful through our 6th grade and Beyond 4 trimesters 2 and 3 there's different options and that's why there's three different Wheels that you'll have the option to have introduction to Spanish introduction to Stam or art any of those three classes they can choose two of them to have second or third and that's what that will reflect those choices 1 asterisk on our art classes this year because of how things when we had the switch to online digital photography class so are our class became a digital photography it was the most successful program that we had in years kids loved it the teacher really took to it so we're thinking that we may extend. next year but there will be an art class in may not be the typical art class that we are all familiar with Martika. And back to you before I leave April 23rd is the deadline will send an email through your Elementary School is reminding you of this please complete the form as soon as possible thank you looking forward to seeing you all thank you mr. Sands and Miss McKenna wonderful job for my counseling team great people to get to know please remember your Alpha if you forgot it is it's on our website as I think I mentioned previously we are nearing the end of our Nation this evening and I hope that you've been able to get your questions answered if not we'll hang around towards the end, and answer any questions are those that may come to you at this point web orientation will be in late August generally a week before school starts in what is web orientation welfare more importantly what is what is a student excuse me to student mentoring program led by a combination of some very enthusiastic teachers and some wonderful upper grade students and their sole responsibility is to help your kids transition to middle school and not just through 6th grade but they stay with you to 7th grade as well and then hopefully they become web leaders in there later grits we have 7th and 8th grade Pueblo the web orientation again will be in late August or Steven email through Aries to invites you to that there is of course there will be information on our website set the web orientation late August is a wonderful opportunity for kids to come together before we start school and they have all sorts of great activities that allow them to get to know one another our campus I'm really just have a great time in a very positive type of environment so again along those same lines I cannot express how important are leadership programs are and if you have high schooler kid you may already know this but our leadership programs web and ASP are a terrific opportunities for kids to learn learn from one another and it is wonderful it equips them wonderfully I should save for high school if they continue or choose to continue along the leadership path and it is a wonderful thing for college colleges love to see leadership programs on resumes are application so to speak it is a great opportunity for students to get to know themselves but also learn how to manage projects and how to work with people so leadership role what are wonderful wonderful addition to our elective offerings and we really look forward to your kids being able to experience them on the customer the stakeholders beginning with a web orientation before I close I would like to just perhaps answer some questions I'm not sure if they were asked previously but we are intending on starting our school year next year in person I'm as matter of fact you're probably already aware that many of our schools are back and we'll be back in full swing very soon so our ends then our plan now is to open up school next year close to a traditional manner as possible and next year I think we have a tremendous opportunity a tremendous opportunity to really work on our cool culture it is imperative that we welcome students back or welcome your students for the first time to a very safe and nurturing environment and we're taking that very seriously and I think we can show that and kids can experience feel that through building our school culture and our school spirit so we have some great things in the works and plans in terms of our regular school assemblies and class competitions and all of these things that we really want to help students apart of the PBS community and ownership to this to this wonderful school and we really are looking forward to the start of next year and very much looking forward to welcoming all of you directions to PBI us is there any other questions we can certainly take them now I see only one question in the chat are you going to
