Hi everyone my name is Mr. Farrell and I'm your principal at Palos Verdes Intermediate School welcome back today I think it's important we take some time to connect with one another since we're starting the year off virtually online. I want to talk to you all about what it means to be your PVIS BEST as well as some basic classroom expectations for the virtual learner. To be your PVIS BEST you always practice safety whether you're online or in the physical world you always encourage kindness you show integrity and you take action we will continue to visit these traits throughout the year for the rest of your time at Palos Verdes Intermediate as far as classroom expectations go there are few simple rules to remember first and most important be kind be kind to one another and be kind to yourself remember when you're in a virtual classroom your engagement your participation equals your attendance so participate on a regular basis and lastly remember when you're sharing images Communication online it must be school appropriate everything you do online is public and permanent today the teachers and I got together and we made this video we can't wait to share with all of you about some basic classroom expectations for the virtual learner we hope you enjoy how's everybody doing today all right today was very well thank you guys remember to keep yourselves on mute unless I call on you I am now no I'm not doing anything important I'm sitting in my class so boring excuse me no cell phones in class hand it over no cell phones in class also means no texting hand it over no texting in class it's a distraction once you've interrupted your concentration it takes an average of 25 minutes to regain it remember no gaming in class do it on your own time I'm going to let you guys give your answer I have a mute the first group and I will call on you to give what your answer was so for the first one number for remember there's no eating in class you'll have plenty of time to grab a quick bite in between every class. Ms O. please wake up once class begins and you're logged on you need to stay on camera your teachers have invested a lot of time in preparing for class please be respectful Miss McKenna I love that you value family time but while you're in class you have to be in class by yourself okay guys it was a wonderful day today the assignment is in the chat and if you have any questions I'm available ok guys you are blowing up the chat right now I need you to stop I'm trying to get the homework assignment out and I am hearing the chat go crazy right now remember the flooding the chat is very distracting your teachers have valuable things to say please pay attention when you're in class and remember to participate in undoubtedly have a lot of challenges ahead of us but we are committed to make sure that you are successful and have fun doing it go SEA KINGS!!
