Each one of us has faced more than our share of challenges in virtual learning thus far. Some days it may even feel as though just as we solve one issue, another arises. As a staff, we are committed to being solution focused and student centered. I am proud of the strides our teachers and support staff have made in every department.
Our Sea Kings are supported by an outstanding faculty whose work and commitment to our students continually inspires. Perhaps most importantly, our students are actively engaged in making the world a better place for us all. We will continue to evaluate our progress, and realize we still have work to do. But I assure you, we are listening and learning, and together we will succeed.
Our ultimate Sea Kings mission is to support the growth of happy, healthy and innovative kids that grow into kind, compassionate successful adults. Our job is to make sure this continues by keeping our focus on a clear vision, which continues to be a simple one: excellence for, and from, all students.

Please join me in thanking Ms. Schofield, and our incredible PVIS Leadership team of students. If you aren't following their Instagram page, please do. I have enjoyed the Sea Kings Tips straight from the students and seeing their daily routines in action. I really am proud to be your principal!
The Trivia Night was a lot of fun, and I look forward to more opportunities to connect with all of you. If you weren't able to join us Friday, please try to join in on the fun when the next event is announced.

Reopening Safety Plans
We are working very hard to prepare for the safe return of our students when LADPH measures are met (based on the tiered standard). In the meantime, here is a quick update of our progress thus far.
- We have marked one-way paths of travel for students.
- Health and safety signage is posted.
- Classrooms and student seating are being arranged to maintain 6ft of social distance.
- Plans for multiple pick up/drop-off locations, broken up by grade level, are being considered.

PVIS Booster Club Online Auction
October 9, 2020 is our Booster Club online auction. Please plan on coming to the auction and bid on something for a great cause- OUR STUDENTS! Our PVIS Booster Club continues to provide our students with wonderful extracurricular opportunities in fine arts, STEM, and athletics. Our Booster Club has also partnered with our PTSA to raise funds to improve our campus facilities and student technology. There is truly no part of the PVIS student experience that they do not positively effect.

Student Clubs! Enroll now!
What is your favorite dance style? Is it jazz, lyrical, musical theater, hip-hop, tap or is it learning Tik-Toks with your friends? Dance Club will be a fun virtual space to explore your love of dance with your friends.
You will have a chance to learn choreography from Ms. Palmer as well as choreograph your own dances. We will have our own virtual dance party recital to show off what we have created at the end of the year. I hope to see you on the dance floor soon.
Dance Club will meet via Teams, Mondays from 3:00 to 4:00 starting October 5th.

Mr. Garman is forming the STEM/ Maker Club.
Are you taking or did you consider taking STEM? Are you a "Maker"? A "Maker" is someone that learns the skills they need to make cool custom objects. Vinyl Decals, 3D printed parts and jewelry, Laser cut and etched gizmos. You can learn to design, build, and code wearable electronics or components for home automation.
Like anything that is worth doing, it can take time and effort to learn. Working together makes it much easier. Join our STEM/ Maker Club and join the Maker movement, a worldwide phenomenon.
The STEM/ Maker Club will meet via Teams, Thursdays from 3:00 to 4:00 starting October 1st.

NEW GRATITUDE CORNER
Showing gratitude improves your overall mental health and mood. People who regularly express gratitude for the positive things in their life are shown to be happier overall, leading to lower rates of stress and depression. Showing gratitude can make you more optimistic, and celebrating more of what we are doing right, will help all of us move forward stronger. Daily bell schedules are listed in the calendar, and will be posted to our social media sites. We post developments, District announcements, and school specific changes in plans on the News and Announcements section of our website. We will do our best to keep the website updated as your central source of information. Please be sure to check there, for quick access to questions as they come up. My personal goal is to make every attempt to alleviate the stress and the anxiety of the current "unknown".
What we are experiencing now is new territory, and cannot be compared to anything we have experienced prior. I promise to keep you updated every step of the way, and hope you feel confident in knowing that the answers to your questions can be found quickly with the click of a button.
