Happy Easter
Wishing you and your family a happy and healthy Easter holiday. We have been through some trying times the past month, please take this time to enjoy a little family fun this weekend. It doesn’t matter whether you practice the right religion to celebrate Easter, this weekend is also about family and some fun ( it doesn’t have to be about Jesus and religion). I would ask you all you to take a moment if possible and spend some family fun time, be grateful to have that time and enjoy yourselves. The world is a tough place right now for many (and for some of you... you may know someone struggling and it is so hard to watch) and we want to just take a few moments to enjoy what we do have in front of us...

as Pooh Bear says...  “Any day spent with you is my favorite day. So, today is my new favorite day.” Spend some quality time this weekend with loved ones... Happy Easter from a Pooh Bear and a I.
-Ms. Smith

Zoom class

No Zoom meeting I have to attend a training at 2pm, sorry. I am sending out an invite for Zoom meeting tomorrow at 2pm for 6th period support.  Please check you email or your parent’s email for Zoom invite as I will not post Zoom invite here, no Zoom bombers welcomed! If you don’t get the info send me an email directly and I will send you info!

smile
Just a reminder to SMILE... why?

Peace begins with a smile.

We shall never know all the good that a simple smile can do.
-Mother Teresa

A smile is happiness you’ll find right under your nose.
-Tom Wilson

I know it feels bleak right now and it seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel... when will you get to hang with friends? What about graduation or your 8th grade activities? But just know a simple call (voice or video) can put a smile on a loved one's face! BE THE REASON SOMEONE ELSE SMILES TODAY! YOU'VE BEEN CHALLENGED! Send me a picture of you smiling too so we can share our smiles!

6th Period Support Class

We have a MANDATORY Zoom class meeting tomorrow 4/7/20 at 2:00 PM. If you are too shy to join by video or don't want to be in video, that is ok. You need to have audio at least. Everyone should have the ability because we offered Chromebooks to ALL students and Zoom allows for audio and video on them. If you need a Chromebook please contact me immediately so we can set that up ASAP. You should start having more online LIVE classes so we want to get you set. See you soon!

ASSIGNMENT FOR MY 6th PERIOD SUPPORT CLASS ONLY

I need my 6th period Support Class to check in with me... we need you ALL to be checking your email on a daily basis, as well as Edlio. I has an assignment on Friday asking you to send me a picture of what your first week of doing school at home was like, or what your first week of Life of COVID 19 was like (not that anyone has it, but we are all living under it's rule). I have only received 4 pictures at this point). I posted 2 pictures myself, one was a moving picture just to be different. I need to have everyone check in. Also I would like to have a live class ASAP got 6th period. Thursday.... If I don't get a time suggestion, I chose on my own, early???

Week 2 Online Learning
Welcome to WEEK 2... WE GOT THIS! Hang in there, get through this week and it is SPRING BREAK.... where is your virtual break going to be?
You made it through week 1!
Congratulations guys! Most of you have done a great job, working hard and getting work done! Some of you have a little catching up to do, and that is ok, it can be done. One more week of working hard and then SPRING BREAK! Not sure if you all heard yet, but this arrangement has been extended out until 4/20/20 due to the Stay Home Order of Governor Newsom, so after Spring Break we will be back to this same way of schooling, but we will have more live classes and chances for you to turn things in and get some credit. Hang tight, we will get through this together!

Stay safe and healthy!
Iready
Please don't forget anyone in Mrs. Lehault's Language Art's classes... you need 40 minutes of Iready lessons a week to get full points each week. More minutes won't hurt you , and who knows it just might HELP you!

You can also do them in Math and it will help you with you scores, assignments and just getting better. If you need to do a diagnostic exam and it won't let you, please just let me know and we can reset that for you! Now is the time to handle that, doing it from the comfort of your own home!

LIVE MATH 8 CLASS MONDAY 10 AM

ALL of Mr. Colburt's Math 8 Classes are to be online at 10AM Monday 10/23/20 for a LIVE lecture with Mr. Colburt and Ms. Smith.

Please join this meeting to see what it's like to have math class online.  He will be answering questions and discussing the first section of Chapter 5.  Be there or be square.  Or be hexagonal.

Where: Microsoft Teams, invitation was sent to email! But link below!

The needed powerpoint is on my Classes page for 3/23/20, Chapter 5 section 5.1

Frederick Douglass Packet

Attached is the packet for the Frederick Doulgass Book. You don't have to print it, you can write what you need to on a separate piece of paper or better yet, type it in a Word document and save in your account to turn in easily. Word has spell check and with vocabulary definitions, you can copy and paste your definitions! But please work on making your whole document the same font, size and color. You have time to work on all of this!
#BePresent
As we tread in new water, spending each day with our loved ones in closed quarters, not being able to go out, visit friends, play sports, go to the movies, etc we must remember that we have so much at home, within ourselves, our family members and within reach in our phones, tablets/computers... reach out and CALL someone, FACETIME and see your friend's face you miss, TALK to people, don't just text. Be Present in the NOW and enjoy what this crazy time is bringing us, a chance to reconnect and spend time with family. Yes, I have to remind you to make time for classwork NOW not later, give school the energy and time it deserves too! I promise you, we will come out stronger on the other end! #Givepresence #Bepresent #NOW #Nottomorrow #Notyesterday

Videos for Math Class

It appears you must be signed into your portal and Big Ideas Math page to watch the videos that I have attached to the math lessons. Just sign in to you portal and be ready for the day’s math lesson by clicking on the icon on your portal and then go back to my Edlio and the links for the videos... they are from each section on the E-book which you apparently have to be signed in for to have access to... sorry for the confusion!

Yearbook Photos

Students,
School has closed so I am asking for your help with yearbook.  Take pictures (selfies) of you doing home online learning and email to me.  When you send from your phone, make sure you send them in the largest format possible or I won't be able to use them.

Thank you,

Mr. Barks
