"Tribute to the Dog" Quiz Tuesday, October 25, 2016

Quiz will cover reading comprehension and critical vocabulary from this persuasive speech. 

REMINDER: Headphones or ear buds must be brought to class everyday.

Please remember to bring your headphones and ear buds to class on a daily basis. 

REMINDER: Bring Compositions Books for Warm Up

Starting Friday, October 7, 2016 we will be starting a daily warm up activity.  Please, bring your second composition notebook for participation points in this activity. 

Root Words

Attached are the root words for week 3-4. For this Monday we covered arbor-bell/i.  Next week, we will cover bene-cata. Your next Root Word Quiz is Tuesday, October 18, 2016 (25 points). The Root Word Quiz will cover all current root words and example words with additional questions from the previous list. 

HOMEWORK: Root Words (Grade 7th-8th)

Due to the 8th grade assembly today the root words have been assigned as your homework.  The list covers the next 2 weeks, but you are required to make index cards for Week 3 meta-mob (5 points). Index cards will be checked tomorrow, 10/4, in class. 

Make-Up Root Words Quiz

For students who would like to make up points from their Root Word Quiz 1 who scored a C or below:  I will be offering a make up quiz on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at lunch in room 611.  
 
No additional make-up opportunities will be given. The two test scores will be averaged together to make your final Root Word Quiz 1 grade. 

"The Mixer," "Rogue Wave" and "Tall Tale Heart" Test Thursday 9/29

The tests will cover reading comprehension and critical vocabulary (40 points).

Monthly Reading Logs

Students are required to read a book of 100+ pages or more ranging in Lexile level 900-1200 per month.  At the end of the month, students will be required to write a summary of the book and respond to written prompts given in class. The Monthly Log will be due at the end of the first week of the following month. 
 
For the month of September the students were given free choice in the selection of their novel.  Each month a different genre will be assigned.
