2023-2024 LA8 Accelerated Summer Reading Assignment

Summer Reading Assignment, Ten Days in a Mad-House. The full digital text has been posted on the Class page through Edlio. Teams will be used during the school year upon receipt of final class rosters. All future assignments will be posted on Teams. 
 
  • Test scheduled Thursday, August 24, 2023. 
  • In-class writing prompt Friday, August 25, 2023.
 

Memorial Day
Monday, May 25, 2020 is Memorial Day. Virtual school will not be held in remembrance of the men and women who have died in the military.  Monday is a day we honor our heroes.

Success Skills Period 4 & 5

Success Skills will no longer have regularly scheduled video conferencing as of 4/14/2020. I will be available via TEAM chat and email on Tuesdays during the following time: 
 
Period 4: 9:00 - 10:00 AM 
Period 5: 11:00 - 12:00 PM
 
Weekly Assignments
  • All student's Weekly Agenda assignments from all of their classes must be submitted through email to [email protected] or posted on TEAMS by 5:00 PM Friday of every week for full credit toward their Weekly Agenda Checks. 
  • 40 minutes of IReady Reading/Math must be completed by 5:00 PM Friday of every week for full credit. 
As always, I will be responding to all emails and am happy to schedule time to meet via video conference on an as needed basis.

A Teams Page has been set up in your student portal. Teams will be used to submit at home assignments. Log into your student portal and use the Office 365 app to find your team page.

Vocabulary Quiz (25 points) Thursday, October 11, 2018

The vocabulary quiz will cover the following Warm Up words: 
 
  • confound - means to confuse or mix someone up
  • misconstrue - means to get the wrong idea about something
  • oblivious - A person who is oblivious does not know or is not aware of what's happening.
  • canny - Someone who is canny is clever or smart. 
  • overt - means something that is open to view; not a secret
  • covert - Something covert is not shown openly; secret
  • interminable - means something that seems forever, as if there's no end in sight
  • longevity - means a long life 
  • benign - Something that is benign is harmless.

Late Assignments due Friday, June 1, 2018.

All late assignments will be accepted for partial points up to Friday, June 1, 2018. No exceptions will be made.  

HEADPHONES needed 5/7 -5/18 for CAASPP Testing

The CAASPP testing will begin the week of May 7, 2018. Please bring your own headphones from home to use for testing. I have a limited amount of headphones in the classroom, but many of the headphones are broken or uncomfortable. 
 

REMINDER: The Call of the Wild Test is March 13, 2018.

The test will cover vocabulary and reading comprehension.
