Principal's Update 3-20-26

PVIS Families,

I am proud to share that Palos Verdes Intermediate School has been recognized as a 2026 California Distinguished School one of the highest honors a school can receive in our state.

This recognition is a direct reflection of our entire PVIS community. Our student's commitment to learning and growing, is only equaled by our staff and their dedication to their work. Our families continue to support, encourage, and partner with us in impactful ways; I am humbled to be leading this school!

The California Distinguished Schools Program recognizes schools for excellence in one of two categories:

  • Closing the Achievement GapSchools that have made significant progress in improving outcomes for all students, particularly those in historically underserved groups

  • Exceptional Student PerformanceSchools that demonstrate strong overall academic achievement and growth across all student groups

Schools are selected based on multiple measures, including:

  • Student performance on the California School Dashboard

  • Progress in English Language Arts and Mathematics

  • Positive school climate and engagement indicators

  • Efforts to ensure equity, access, and support for all students

This award affirms the intentional work happening every day at PVIS. Our commitment to high expectations, meaningful relationships, and ensuring every student feels seen, supported, and capable of success.

Thank you for being such an important part of our school community. It is an honor to celebrate this moment together.

Be Legendary!
Micah J. Farrell, Principal
