Principal's Update 8-29-25

PVIS Families,

I hope that your first full week of school went well. The picture on the right is from our 6th-grade and new student orientation day. On that day, our new students were connected with a student WEB leader who would be there to support them during the transition to PVIS. Beyond that, our office staff, teachers, administrators, and School counselors are always available to help all of our Sea Kings!

Mrs. Egan and I wrapped up our Student Expectations presentations on Friday. We visited science classes to share these in a smaller setting, which allowed us to discuss important topics such as bullying, discrimination, and plagiarism more meaningfully. I’ve included the presentation here in case you’d like to review it.

As a special incentive...The first ten students who come to the office on Monday and can answer "why we have a school-wide cell phone policy will win a special prize:)

Have a wonderful three-day weekend.

Pick-Up & Drop-Off Reminders

As we wrap up the first week of school, I’d like to share a few reminders to help keep our drop-off and pick-up times safe and smooth for everyone.

  • Pick-Up Line (Via Olivera, north end): Please keep traffic moving by pulling all the way forward before your student enters the car. Stopping and waiting in the middle of the line blocks the flow of traffic.

  • Via Estudillo: For everyone’s safety, please avoid dropping off or picking up students here. Street signs prohibit left turns from Via Olivera onto Via Estudillo, and U-turns on Via Estudillo are especially unsafe since there are no sidewalks for students walking in that area.

  • Lower Lot (Via Olivera): Remember that left turns into or out of the PVIS lower lot are not allowed, as crossing the double yellow line is both unsafe and prohibited.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us keep all PVIS students safe during these busy times of day.

This week, all students participated in school-wide “BEST” lessons designed to reinforce the behaviors we value most. Students were introduced to our school-wide behavior matrix, Digital Citizenship principles, and the Code of Conduct—helping students understand what being their "PVIS BEST” looks like across all settings.

Thank you for supporting and reinforcing these important messages at home, as we work together to foster a safe, respectful, and compassionate learning community for all.
