PVIS Families,
Middle school is often called the last great opportunity, a unique and pivotal time when students are not quite children, yet not quite adults. It’s during these years that they explore who they are, take risks, and most importantly, make mistakes.
At PVIS, we believe mistakes are not failures; rather, they are the building blocks of growth. Whether it's a poor choice, a wrong answer, or a misstep with a friend, each experience is an opportunity to reflect, learn, and do better. This process builds resilience, accountability, and confidence, skills that will serve our students well, far beyond their time with us at PVIS.
We encourage our students to try, stumble, and try again.
We support them in learning from their experiences, not hiding from them.
And we ask for your partnership in reinforcing this mindset at home.
When we embrace mistakes as part of the learning journey, we create a culture where students feel safe to take the risks needed to truly grow.
Thank you for trusting us with this extraordinary window of your child’s development.
Together, let’s make the most of this last great opportunity.
Best of luck this school year!
Micah J. Farrell, Principal

E-BIKE SAFETY COURSE
Over the recent months, we have seen a growing number of students riding e-bikes to school, and with that, an increase in risky behaviors, riding without secured helmets, carrying passengers, weaving through traffic, and riding on sidewalks at high speeds. These behaviors put students and others in our community at serious risk.
Our goal is to keep students safe both on and off campus. PVUSD now requires an E-Bike Safety Course to be completed to ride to school; see the flyer (link) below.
We also encourage you to review CA DMV e-bike regulations and ensure your child is properly trained and licensed if required.
Thank you for partnering with us to help keep our students safe and responsible riders.

Please take a moment to review our important school drop-off and pick-up procedures.
Your partnership is essential in ensuring a safe and efficient process for all.
Please keep the following in mind:
Use Designated Areas Only:
Please drop off and pick up students only in the designated loading/unloading zones. Do not stop in red zones, crosswalks, or double park, even for a short time.
STAY IN YOUR VEHICLE
To keep the line moving smoothly, drivers should remain in their vehicles during drop-off and pick-up.
PULL ALL THE WAY FORWARD | FILL IN SPACING BETWEEN YOU AND CAR IN FRONT OF YOU.
Always pull as far forward as possible before stopping to allow more vehicles to enter the zone. Your car should be close to the car in front of you until you leave our lot. This allows us to prevent congestion on the surrounding streets. Please be sure to keep space minimal between you and car in front of you at all times. If your child is walking out and you have space between you and car, please pull forward before allowing them to enter the car. Student should not enter your vehicle until your car is as far forward as possible. (this is critical for our success).
OBEY TRAFFIC SIGNS AND STAFF DIRECTIONS
Our staff is present to ensure safety and maintain a smooth flow—please follow their directions and posted signage at all times.
REFRAIN FROM USING YOUR CELL PHONE
For everyone’s safety, please refrain from using mobile phones while in the school traffic zones.
PEDESTRIAN SAFETY
Remind your student to use crosswalks and look both ways before crossing. Please do not allow your child to run across traffic lanes.
Thank you for helping our school community stay safe. With your cooperation, we can ensure a smooth and secure experience for everyone during arrival and dismissal times.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact the school office.

No Scroll Zone! Eyes Up, Sea Kings — Legends Don’t Look Down!
We believe that cell phones are a distraction to the student learning environment in many ways, such as increasing the cognitive load, poor connectedness to school, and academic dishonesty.
Additionally, a student's well-being can be negatively impacted by increased screen time. Social anxiety, lack of self-control, cyberbullying, and more are correlated with increased screen time.
Let's work together for the betterment of our students' learning environment!
