Principal's Update | April 24,2022

Sea Kings Families,

Our 7th-grade students returned from Pali Science Camp this week and the trip was a huge success. They learned about science, but hopefully more about the ways of the world. Letting go may be one of life's toughest challenges for a parent to manage (my oldest leaves for college in the fall), but there may be no better time to practice the balancing act than middle school. Parents and students face the same pressures from the constant barrage of social media pressure to keep up or define success. Students need our guidance, but our relationships with our kids must not be the cost- balance is key. As a parent, if we can remember that we can't control how the world treats our kids, but we can equip our kids to be resilient and embrace failure as an antecedent to success, we strengthen our relationships and support their long-term growth. The days are long but the years are fast.

Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow for our first 'Coffee With The Principal' event. Be sure to click the news and alert below to submit your question.

10 Tips For Doing Well on High School Entrance Exams - Educational Endeavors
Next week we start our CAASPP Testing. This will be our first administration of the CAASPP in three years. As we progress out from the pandemic and online learning, assessments like these are instrumental in helping to identify and quantify learning loss. Standardized assessments, classroom work, and grades are also measures used to assess student learning. We appreciate our community for your support in recognizing the importance of the CAASPP assessment. The schedule and some helpful links with tips for student preparation are included below.

Thank you.
