Sea Kings Families,
PVIS is the best intermediate school around, and our community is second to none. I am grateful to lead this school and work with some of the best people I have ever come to know. Despite this, like any other school in the world, we have challenges to face and overcome for the betterment of our kids. The challenges typically come in waves and can seem all-encompassing. Still, I am always reenergized by our community and their willingness to offer support- again, a second-to-none community.
Upon return from spring break, I invite you to join me for a few Coffee with the Principal events. This will give us an excellent opportunity to speak openly, ask questions, and, most importantly, collaborate. More info will be emailed.
In closing, I would like to share a bit of my wife's Chamorro (Guam) cultural practice for harmony. Let it be whatever it is to you.. A great reminder, a reset, or a boost as we begin to close our year.
Dr. Katherine Augon’s concept of Inafa’Maolek:
Inafa'maolek is a Chamorro practice of good harmony within and for our community by practicing these six values:
1. "Respetu"- respect for each other always.
2. "Mangine"- Respect for elders and persons of authority.
3. "Mamahlao"- To be humble.
4. "Chenchule"- To give or donate.
5. "Che'lu" - Relationships with siblings, and with the community, we are all family.
6. "Patgon"- Children are valued, and raising them is everyone's responsibility.
