Next week is Yellow Ribbon Week at school where we focus on ways to spread kindness throughout the community. CLICK HERE to learn how we will celebrate Kindness on campus.
KINDNESS is defined as “the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate” and can be shown by doing something nice towards yourself or others in order to make a positive difference
Not only can kindness help to improve the happiness of others, but has also been shown to have positive benefits for our own mental wellbeing. Doing acts of kindness can help us can help improve our own mood and self-esteem, and spark feelings of joy and optimism. Showing kindness towards others can also help strengthen our social connections, improve our support networks, our increase our sense of belonging in the community.
One way for students to get involved is by participating in our Yellow Ribbon Week activity where students will make cards to send cheer to a child as part of the Cards for Hospitalized Kids Campaign. This is a great way for students to practice spreading kindness and contribute to the greater community. Cards can be dropped of in the front office all week, we invite our entire community to show our Sea King Spirit!
