Dear PVPUSD Community,

This week continued to present challenges as we navigate this Covid surge. Despite these difficult conditions, our district continues to do everything in our power to limit transmission at school by utilizing a variety of safety procedures and protocols. In addition, this week we added supplemental academic services through our new
Teacher Office Hours program to further support our students.

iHealth COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test (Home Kit) Distribution Today!
All students at school today will be taking home an iHealth COVID-19 Antigen rapid test kit, which contains two Covid tests. The district is requesting that all students take one of the two tests on Monday, January 17, to verify a negative test result prior to returning to school on Tuesday, January 18. Students who test positive are
required to notify their school site administrator immediately. Students who test negative are not required to notify the school.
Students who are recently recovered from COVID-19 within the last 90 days and are asymptomatic do not need to test.

For instructions on how to take this iHealth COVID-19 antigen test click here.

All students who are absent today can pick up a Covid test kit from one of two designated locations on Saturday, January 15th. Students and/or family members must bring proof of school identification. If you do not have a school ID for your child, please provide a screenshot/printout of your child's Aeries demographics
page showing student is active. The district will have an absence report to verify eligibility to pick up the Covid test kit at the distribution sites.

Miraleste Intermediate School: 10am to 2pm
29323 Palos Verdes Drive East, Rancho Palos Verdes (test pick up near the Main Office)

Malaga Cove District Office: 10am to 2pm
375 Via Almar, Palos Verdes Estates (test pick up near the PEF office at the Multi-Purpose Room)

Teacher Office Hours
In an effort to increase student support services and to mitigate learning loss, the district has established a voluntary K-12 program for Teacher Office Hours. The office hours will be conducted virtually, hourly, Monday through Thursday of each week in January. Each school will publish to their school community the weekly
office hours schedule for their participating teachers. If proven to be successful, this program could be extended to future months.

Isolation of cases and exposure management continue to be the most important strategies for limiting spread. We appreciate your continued support. Parents who have questions about isolation requirements can call the DPH COVID-19 Information Hotline at 1-833-540-0473. This line is available in multiple languages and operates 7 days a week from 8:00 AM to 8:30 PM.

PVPUSD will continue to offer free Covid testing. Please try to prioritize reasons for testing to include the onset of symptoms and/or notification that you were a close contact to an infected person. Testing every day with no symptoms and/or no known close contact with an infected person cannot be supported by the school
and county testing infrastructure.
