Sea Kings Families,
We did it! One of the greatest characteristics of our PVIS learning community is the genuine care and compassion shared between staff, students, and parents. This was on full display all week, as we welcomed all of our students back to campus. Thank you for your cooperation and great teamwork as we continue to navigate health/safety protocols, lockers, schedules, technology (Teams pages will be updated as soon as possible), and PE clothes.
As a reminder, every student/parent must provide a daily completed health/green screen upon entrance to campus. The PVIS health screening preference is through an electronic device. If students do not have a device, a parent's device can be used to check in. A laminated card with the questions printed on the back will suffice, but it must be time/date stamped daily. Our students and staff have done a great job wearing their masks and washing/sanitizing hands all day. Let's continue to focus on each other and do what we can to keep our school open for our kids to learn and grow together.
Lunchtime has been very busy, which was expected as half of our students are new and need time to learn the process. We will be reviewing the lunchtime expectations with students next week through PE classes. Please remind your student(s) to have their student ID or six-digit student number ready when picking up a cafeteria lunch. We are in the process of arranging for more student seating, and we have increased the areas that students can enjoy their break and maintain social distance. Please take a moment to review the lunchtime map below.
We have the very best staff guided on the principle of doing what is best for students. Last year presented us with unimaginable challenges but also incredible growth opportunities. I am proud of our students, staff, parents, and community, who continue to do an outstanding job keeping each other safe and starting the school year strong with many successes.
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or need support.

COVID Quarantine Protocols
Your cooperation is imperative to student and staff safety. Therefore, if your student is exposed to COVID or is sick/symptomatic with the virus (or any illness), please do not send them to school and contact the principal immediately.
Duration of quarantine is based on whether a person is symptomatic or not and/or is vaccinated or not. The administration and our school nurse will happily assist you through the process. If students have to quarantine, they will follow along with their classes via the class Teams page. Students can access assignments, classwork, schedules, instruction, and direct message teachers through Teams pages. If your student has to quarantine, we are committed to making sure they stay current and support them with any questions. Teachers and administration are here to help.
Please do not hesitate to communicate. Please also take some time to review our PVIS COVID Health & Safety Guidelines.

During the month of September, all students will take the first iReady diagnostic assessment in their Math and English Language Arts classes. i-Ready assessments help our school identify student growth and progress in math and language arts.
What is i-Ready? i-Ready is an online program that will help us determine your child’s strengths and areas for growth, personalize their learning, and monitor their progress throughout the school year. i-Ready allows us to meet your child where they are and provides us with data to inform instruction.
The i-Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive assessment that adjusts its questions to suit your child’s needs. Each item a student receives is based on their answer to the previous question. For example, a series of correct answers will result in slightly harder questions, while incorrect answers will yield slightly easier ones. The purpose of this is not to give your child a score or grade but to determine how to best support their learning. i-Ready Instruction provides students with lessons based on their individual strengths and areas for growth. These lessons are interactive and provide strategic supports to keep your child engaged as they learn.
