Sea Kings Families,
Dr. Cherniss sent a message to all families on Friday (2/19) about the return to in-person school for our 6th grade class. The return of 6th grade students, and any other grade level, is completely predicated upon the LA County Department of Public Health guidelines for positivity cases (
LA Country Department Of Public Health ).
If the positivity case trajectory continues downward, we may have more options in which to have students on campus. Our District
Website and direct communication from our Superintendent will keep you updated.
The scheduled start date for 6th graders to return to campus is March 15, 2021.
Over the coming weeks we will be hard at work to develop a schedule and map out logistics for a safe and healthy plan for students to return to campus. Please know that our campus has been ready for many months with PPE, safety plans, and cleaning procedures for student return.
While we are preparing on campus, we need you to do your part at home. Each one of us plays an important role in our success moving forward. Please discuss your roles in maintaining safety for our Sea King Community with your students.
Establishing clear expectations as a whole will ensure our success and ultimately get everyone back on campus.:
1. Wearing a mask is mandatory and must be worn covering both the nose and mouth at all times.
2. Frequent hand washing and sanitizing.
3. Maintain social distance from friends and teachers at all times.
4. Stay home when experiencing symptoms.
5. Avoid non-essential travel.
6. In the event, you do travel, follow county guidelines regarding quarantine is critical.
7. Focus on the solution and not on the problem.
8. Recognize we are all in this together, doing our best, and only want what's best for our kids (no matter how different that may be).
9. Be Kind to one another and to yourself.
We are very excited to welcome students back to campus. Our administrative team will be working with our WEB program to schedule small campus tours for our 6th graders as we understand this is their first time stepping foot on a middle school campus.
Thank you for your patience, awesome teamwork, and flexibility!
We will be back and we got this!
Be Well!

Black History Month Celebration
Thank you to our very own Sea King parent, Gigi Welsh, Mrs. Scott, and all other participants that joined Chef Club this week to learn how to make delicious Jambalaya! Chef Gigi shared personal stories with the students about her experiences of race, family, and culture. Food is one of the best ways to understand another person's race and culture.
Bon Appetit!
