Sea Kings Families.
We have accomplished so much over the past four weeks. A 180 degree turn from the educational programs we were accustomed to for generations, to virtual classrooms and online learning for all. There will be challenges along the way, but we are learning to fly and that is to be expected. None of it however, would have been possible without the tremendous efforts of our PVIS parents, students, staff, and District- thank you!
As a staff, we will continue to provide students with the best educational experience while we are away, and evolve where we need to. Please understand that some teachers are naturally inclined to technology, while others may have strengths in other areas. We have had many discussions along the way about our academic and social/emotional programs. We have come together as a team, we encourage one another to try something new, or share experiences and best practices from what we have learned in this short time. Student wellbeing is, and will continue to be our driving force. With the students at the forefront we must understand that workload should be manageable and reduced from what it was in 'normal' circumstances. Every single one of us is faces unimaginable challenges, and we are cognizant of that when we assign work. We are truly together apart and make a wonderful team!
I wanted to share a social media post (below) that I found particularly encouraging during this time. I hope you read and enjoy.
We celebrated Mrs.Tsosie this week for Assistant Principals Week, virtually of course.
I am here for all of you, please do not hesitate to email me for support.
Thank you and Be Well.

"What if???"
If they cancel the rest of the school year, students would miss 2.5 months of education. Many people are concerned about students falling behind because of this. Yes, they may fall behind when it comes to classroom education...
But what if...
What if instead of falling “behind", this group of kids are ADVANCED because of this? Hear me out...
What if they have more empathy, they enjoy family connection, they can be more creative and entertain themselves, they love to read, they love to express themselves in writing.
What if they enjoy the simple things, like their own backyard and sitting near a window in the quiet.
What if they notice the birds and the dates the different flowers emerge, and the calming renewal of a gentle rain shower?
What if this generation are the ones to learn to cook, organize their space, do their laundry, and keep a well run home?
What if they learn to stretch a dollar and to live with less?
What if they learn to plan shopping trips and meals at home.
What if they learn the value of eating together as a family and finding the good to share in the small delights of the everyday?
What if they are the ones to place great value on our teachers and educational professionals, librarians, public servants and the previously invisible essential support workers like truck drivers, grocers, cashiers, custodians, logistics, and health care workers and their supporting staff, just to name a few of the millions taking care of us right now while we are sheltered in place?
What if among these children, a great leader emerges who had the benefit of a slower pace and a simpler life to truly learn what really matters in this life?
What if they are AHEAD?"

Grading and Daily Schedule
We continue to discuss best practices for grading at the site and District level. With every decision that is made, student wellbeing is at the center. Grades will be updated by teachers on an ongoing basis and as student work is submitted.
I hope that the new schedule we started this week has been a welcomed addition and has streamlined the educational process for students. If you are having any issues with the schedule or concerns about our educational program, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.
At this time, there certainly is no shortage of information at the local and national levels. Please know that our entire PVIS team is dedicated to the students and families in our community, and that our District is working tirelessly to ensure success. The most accurate information can be found in emails from Dr. Cherniss, and the District websites. Please focus on one day at a time, and together we will get through this. Focusing on anything more than the present, will lead to undue stress.
