Sea King Families,
November is in full swing, and we are nearing the end of the first trimester
(11/20).
Over the next week, please join us in encouraging our students to focus
on turning in missing assignments, studying hard, getting plenty of rest,
and finishing strong.
If your son or daughter is facing challenges, spending too much time
studying, etc., remember that we have two great School Counselors
that can support them both emotionally and academically. Often
students in middle school struggle with the basics of student
responsibilities like organization, aka cleaning
out the binder, studying, and time management. Our School Counselors
are ready to provide students with tips and guidance with all of this and
more . Students can make an appointment to meet with their
School Counselor anytime in the main office.
For many months, we have been working on a ‘soft’ remodel of our
library which means new furniture, flooring, and paint. Your
generous PTSA and Booster Club donations are responsible for
funding of the project, and it is finally ready to begin next Monday. I
anticipate the completion to be the beginning of December. Like
many of our buildings and classrooms, the library was in certain
need of a refresh, and it would not be possible without the support of our
families- Thank you!
Along this same vein, this March our community will again be
asked to help our schools, on a much larger scale in the form of a bond.
As a member of the Facilities Advisory Committee, we were asked to
focus on creating a list for each school site of priorities. With parent input,
we composed a PVIS list of the following items:
student safety upgrades, new plumbing, new electrical with heat and air
conditioning, and an indoor/multi-use gymnasium. PVPUSD is
committed to beginning many of the projects immediately; student safety,
plumbing and electrical upgrades will be my initial focus. I am happy to
discuss the PVIS plan for improvements based on the potential of
a bond passing; please contact me, anytime.
Finally, please join me in congratulating our teachers that were awarded
Chuck Miller Grants this year! The following teachers wrote grants
that were approved by the committee; Ms. Lyndsey Kier, Ms. Chelsea
Poma, Ms. Jaclyn Rosen (x2), Mr. Kurt Hay, and Mr. Scott Garman (x2)
Seven total grants were awarded to PVIS, be sure to congratulate them
if you see them around campus.
Enjoy your three-day weekend, and Go Sea Kings!
