Deadline to Submit Cotillion Application

Have you been hearing about Cotillion but don’t know what it is?

Cotillion, a decades-old tradition in Palos Verdes intermediate schools, is an excellent opportunity for your children to learn many basic dance steps and to receive instruction in the social graces.

Eight dances are held, typically on Friday evenings, from September to April. The year culminates with a Mother/Son - Father/Daughter dance.

Each dance is a semi-formal or themed dance with music, decorations, and refreshments directed by a nationally known instructor, Mr. Bobby Burgess and his team. In addition to the instruction and manners portion of the evening, there are dance and costume contests, raffles, and games.

The Cotillions at the intermediate schools prepare the students to participate in The Palos Verdes Assembly at the high school level. Assembly is a four-year program that includes community service with dance and etiquette instruction in formal dances, dinners, and teas, culminating in a senior presentation ball. Students may achieve President’s Volunteer Service Awards which are based on their service hours. Enrollment in Assembly is predicated on participation in Cotillion.

Cotillion membership is limited in class size for safety, and effort is made to maintain an even boy/girl ratio. Early application submittal is strongly recommended for admission into Cotillion. Applications will be prioritized based on the date that fully completed applications and full payment are received, with attention to maintaining an even boy/girl ratio. It is no longer necessary to submit your application with a partner.
