Science 6 (Period 3-5)

Course Description

Welcome to 6th Grade Science!
We are in the process of choosing new instructional materials. This year we will be evaluating two publishers (Lab-Aids, Inc. and FOSS). We are very excited about both of these publishers. They have great activities and we are going to have a hard time choosing between them.

The best way to reach me is via e-mail. I check it a lot. [email protected]

What to Bring to Class - Usually just your notebook and something to write with. Your science notebook is where you will keep your notes and lab reports. It is a great resource that you usually get to use during tests.

Grades - They are posted on Aeries. Grading scale runs A+(>96), A, B, C, D, F.
Tests are usually graded and returned to students within a few days.
Test retakes are an option if you have a bad day or two, but the highest score you can get on a retake is a C.

Bonus Essays - I add 1% on to your final grade for each bonus essay you write. 5 bonus essays will raise your grade 5%. To write a bonus essay you need to e-mail me with a topic (any science topic) and I will reply with a few questions you will need to answer. Type up a 250-word essay that adequately answers those questions and print it out or send it to me. You can do as many essays as your parents allow.

Late Work - Work that is turned in late will usually not be given full credit. If you are absent, you technically have as many days as you are absent to make up work, but nearly all the classwork is posted on edlio so do yourself a favor and do as much as you can before you return to make it easier to catch up.

Assignments and Test Dates - are posted on edlio. Test dates are usually posted a week or more in advance.
