Course Description

 This year’s 8th Grade Science course is designed to acquaint students with physical science, focusing on chemistry, physics and astronomy. 

 

We will begin with lab safety and science skills. We will then cover force and motion, Newton’s laws, and simple machines. Then we will move into chemistry during and discuss the properties and interactions of matter, and atoms and the periodic table. Finally to wrap up the year we will learn about all the wonders of astronomy. We will discuss stars, planets and other galaxies.

Students will learn the content through reading, lecture, class discussions, skills practice, projects, demonstrations, and hands-on labs with written analysis. 

The course meets the physical science requirements of the California State Standards for 8th Grade Science.
