Media Activity: Informative Presentation (50 points)
Do research to find out more about an animal mentioned in Animal Snoops.
- Choose one animal from the text.
- Do research to find more information about the animal, including it environment and its behavior.
- Use both print and digital sources for your research.
- Synthesize the information from the text with your research to present a slideshow presentation that describes the animal and how it lives. Include photographs with captions in your presentation.
- You may work with a partner or by yourself. If you choose a partner, both participants must have contributed to the slideshow and prepare to speak during the presentation. Each person is required to speak to have a 2-3 minute speech prepared about their animal.
- Additional resources may be found on my.hrw.com under your assignments.

- All slideshows must use text features such as headings, photographs and captions.

Write a one-page essay to explain the author's purpose in writing How Smart Are Animals?
- Review the selection. Note clues that help you determine the author's purpose in writing it.
- Summarize important ideas from the text. Cite relevant textual evidence to support your analysis, such as facts, definitions, details, and examples that help show the author's purpose.
- All essays must be doubled-spaced and typed in 12 pt. Times New Roman font.

- continue with text clues that show this purpose
- create a list of important ideas and details from the text that support their statement about the author's purpose
- use your list to craft a summary that explains the author's purpose
